How to Choose a Prayer Rug
To choose a prayer rug, start with three things: dimensions, the specifications on the product page and a pattern you like. This guide helps you compare SAFA STORE rugs and distinguish prayer rugs from decorative wall rugs.
Dimensions · Materials and thickness · Rawdah or Misk · Four steps to choosing
1. Check the dimensions and available space
The Rawdah and Misk prayer rugs in our catalogue measure 70 × 110 cm. Before ordering, mark out this area on the floor with a tape measure to check the space for the rug and around it.
Compare this size with a rug you already use. Photographs show the pattern, while the product dimensions are your reference for size. If you need another format, contact us to check availability before ordering.
2. Compare materials and thickness
Rawdah and Misk prayer rugs are made with heat-set polypropylene fibres and are 8 mm thick. Check these specifications on each product page before choosing.
These details help you compare models; photographs alone cannot convey their precise feel. For care, follow the instructions supplied with the product. If a cleaning method is not specified, contact us before using it.
3. Rawdah or Misk: choose your design
Rawdah: patterns inspired by Medina
The Rawdah collection offers several interpretations of patterns inspired by the Rawdah of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Compare the Classic, Harmony, Heritage and Floral Mihrab models by design and available colours.
The Rawdah Classic prayer rug offers green, beige and navy blue options, subject to the availability shown on the product page.
Misk: patterns inspired by Mecca and the Kaaba
The Misk collection includes Kaaba Door, Kaaba Panorama and Black and Silver models. Explore these designs if you are looking for a pattern inspired by the Kaaba.
Both collections have the same stated dimensions and thickness. Your choice therefore mainly comes down to patterns, colours and availability.
4. Distinguish prayer rugs from wall decor
Wall rugs in the Jiwar collection are decorative items. Ayat Al-Kursi measures 70 × 100 cm and Surah Al-Ikhlas measures 40 × 40 cm; both have a stated thickness of 4 mm.
For a prayer rug, explore Rawdah or Misk. To decorate a space, see the Jiwar product pages and check the size and installation requirements before ordering.
